Trevor's Ordination Weekend
The last weekend of November 2010 was always going to be significant; it was the weekend that the Board of Churches in Communities International had set for Trevor's ordination. As you enjoy the pictures of this strategic event, please also read the report as the weekend became significant in many other ways too.
Friday with Christian Life Fellowship International On the Friday evening I spoke for Pastor Joseph Boadu at Christian Life Fellowship International in Greenwich, South London. In recent years his ministry has branched out in many directions nationally and internationally and this was the start of his leaders’ conference. I owe much to Pastor Joseph as when I was battling to regain my health between 1997 and 2004 he came alongside and enabled me to sustain, and then revitalise, the Ministers’ Fellowship and churches network that has now grown worldwide to become CiC International. Speaking prophetically into the lives of his leaders was more than a privilege, it was a significant moment!

Saturday with Rev Celia Appeagyei-Collins On the Saturday, my wife, Marion, and I were with another key person in my life and ministry, Rev Celia Appeagyei-Collins. It was Celia’s 50th birthday event and people had gathered from near and far to honour this amazing lady who is a mentor to so many people around the world. I’m humbled by the fact that she looks to me as her primary point of accountability and felt the weight of this privilege as I brought her the charge she sought for the years ahead. There is something amazing about seeking to bless those who bless you.
Sunday morning with Yahweh Christian Fellowship International Sunday morning saw me with one of my most faithful spiritual sons, Rev Noel McLean, whose love and support for me has meant so much from the early 1990s onwards. Noel has a powerful ministry that extends into Kenya and India and it was a joy to be with him at Yahweh Christian Fellowship International, his South West London base. I sought to continue my weekend theme of blessing those who bless me and honour Noel for his pastoral heart which makes such a difference as he serves alongside me as Vice Chair of CIC International.

Sunday evening - Trevor's ordination And so we come to the highlight of an amazing weekend, the ordination of Trevor Howard. Trevor has worked alongside me for thirteen years, during which time he has grown beyond the role of just my Ministry Director, in every way he is a ministry partner. Within Churches in Communities we do from time-to-time follow up ministerial accreditation with ordination if the public nature of the ministry requires it. Trevor as the International Co-ordinator of Churches in Communities has a very public ministry and the Board of CiC felt that he should be ordained into post. The ordination took place at Cornerstone Christian Centre on the Sunday evening and representatives were there from many stages of Trevor’s life. David Matthews joined Celia Appeagyei-Collins, Noel McLean and myself (as Trevor’s fellow CiC Board members) in laying hands on Trevor and praying for him. It was the high point in an evening that had many high points: Noel Robinson led the worship, Tammy (Trevor’s wife) brought an interpretative dance to Godfrey Birtill’s Outrageous Grace and Trevor shared an amazing word underscoring his sense of calling into this additional and essential role. Thank you Trevor for letting us all share in this significant event.
